UTTO Industry Symposium – Dec 2025, Naples, Florida

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UTTO Industry Symposium – Dec 2025, Naples, Florida

“Collaborative Paths in Damage Prevention – Building a Safer, Smarter Underground Space”

The UTTO Industry Symposium 2025 brought together leaders from utilities, pipelines, NULCA, device manufacturers, contract locators, excavators, predictive AI and ticket technology partners, trainers and thought leaders – all aligned around a shared mission to advance safety, transparency, and modernization across the underground infrastructure sector. Importantly, this was not a product-focused event; it was a forum for open, candid discussion of real-world challenges viewed through multiple industry perspectives.

The event opened with “Accuracy, Accountability & Assurance – A New Era in Damage Prevention,” highlighting the need for a unified data ecosystem connecting field operations, GIS, and compliance. A fireside chat on “The State of the Underground” explored regulatory momentum, the rising cost of mislocates, and the growing influence of AI-driven record repositories.

A key session, “The Locator, the Excavator and the Surrounding Stakeholders,” shifted the dialogue from blame to collaboration, using authentic field experiences to inform better policies, training, and shared practices. Additional discussions underscored the pressures on excavators and why the gap between ticket clearance and excavation remains one of the sector’s highest risk moments.

The conversation on “Reducing Risk Through Data Transparency” examined how safe-harbor models and balanced data-sharing frameworks can reduce liability, supported by insights from “The Economics of Assurance” on quantifying avoided damages and operational savings.

The roundtable “Collaboration Without Friction” focused on aligning incentives across utilities, contractors, and ticket centers. The symposium closed with “The Digital Underground 2030 Roadmap,” outlining a shared framework for data exchange, field assurance, and long-term modernization.

We extend our sincere thanks to all participants for their candor, insight, and commitment to industry progress. Your contributions made this event both productive and inspiring – demonstrating that meaningful change in damage prevention is not only possible, but already underway.

Together, we move toward a safer, smarter underground environment built on transparency, innovation, and true collaboration.

To learn more or inquire about next year’s symposium, please contact annie@utto.com

UTTO partners with GRTGaz/RICE of France and the NYSEARCH/Northeast Gas Association (NGA) to develop and commercialize innovative Digital Mapping Solutions to revolutionize utility operations in U.S urban areas.

New York, NY – June 19, 2024 – Creating and maintaining accurate digital maps for buried infrastructure is a critical function for utility companies. Enhancements in geospatial records in large cities are vital for improving productivity in construction, asset management, safety, emergency response, damage prevention, and regulatory compliance. The mapping industry’s biggest challenge is downtown areas where large buildings obstruct the sky and block or delay satellite signals. Solving the limitations of GPS technology in urban canyon environments where satellite signals are obstructed by buildings remains a top priority.

This partnership aims to integrate GRTGaz/RICE’s innovative “e-Nails” technology with UTTO’s vLocate Mapper device and platform. The initiative will develop a commercially viable system to overcome the challenges of urban canyons and eliminate the need for “line of sight” GPS satellite signals.

The goal is to create a mapping system that simplifies the accurate (sub-meter) capture of buried asset locations and enables precise relocation of these facilities in the absence of GPS signals.

For more information, please contact:

Jeanne Zagursky
Director of Communications
Email: jeanne@utto.com
