Industry problem
There are a variety of state-based ‘811’ digital platforms that allow homeowners, excavators, and utility owners to submit and review locate ticket requests through the 811 one-call system. However, there are no platforms designed specifically for the workforce of 811 organizations to aid in their pursuit of absolute damage avoidance for underground assets.
811 workforces are responsible for the promotion of the utility damage prevention program, as well as the education and training of damage prevention stakeholders. This work is crucial to asset damage avoidance, yet 811 organizations do not have a way to log, track and analyze their positive insights and daily successes accomplished in the field.
Without this data, 811 organizations cannot draw parallels between what is done in the field and how that correlates to damage prevention. This leaves 811 workforces in the dark, and they are forced to deploy valuable resources into the field blind. Damage prevention training and education is extremely time-sensitive and can be the sole reason why an asset does not become damaged in the field. However, it’s impossible for 811 organizations to know where to target first without real-time data analysis and targeted resource optimization.
Valuable Field Data Lost
Valuable field data is often lost due to the inability to record information on-site, lack of data uniformity, and the error-prone transfer of information from written to digital format.
Resource Optimization
Without real data, 811 organizations do not have the ability to optimize their limited resources in the field by targeting areas that need it the most.
No Insight into Field Program Effectiveness
It’s impossible to tell whether the current educational and training programs are insufficient or need improvement without the analysis of captured damage data and damage prevention stakeholder feedback over time.
